Searching for Summer Interns

Do you know someone studying to become a therapist, social worker or special education teacher?

A Mane Stream Internship is a valuable learning experience and a fun way to spend 8 weeks. And you DON'T need any horse experience! It’s not only the campers laughing and developing friendships over the course of the summer. The interns have a great time and become confident in their ability to assist and empower the campers.

Last year all four interns were Mane Stream volunteers or volunteers from another Adaptive Riding facility.  Three of them also happen to be studying to become occupational, physical and speech-language therapists. Did these experiences have something to do with their decisions to go into those fields? You bet!

OT Student, Claire Jarvis states, “This internship gave me a reason to become creative with activities and more open to taking on more responsibility in a setting I love. I know I can look back upon this experience in my continuing education and use it as a guide for the future.”

Samantha said, "Mane Stream has always been a place where my two passions have been able to come together, working with horses and helping other people. From this experience, I’ve decided to go the occupational therapy route. It was fun to interact with the campers and being able to see their enthusiasm throughout the different activities."

Victoria shared, “My time as an intern at Mane Stream was truly an amazing experience. I loved being a volunteer but being an intern was an even more rewarding opportunity. I really enjoyed taking on a bigger, more important role at the barn.”
